Marriage Disunion

To John: Lately the condition of marriage union has taken me to reconsider several things found in Scripture.  In Matthew 19 the Lord teaching the Jewish people is tested by the Jewish leaders concerning the doctrine of divorce.  They asked Him:  Is it lawful [for a man] to put-away his wife for every cause? And He answered and said, Have ye not read, that He Who made [them] from the beginning made them male and female, and said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cling to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?  So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined-together, let not man put-asunder.  They say unto Him, Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorcement, and to put [her] away?  He saith unto them, Moses for your hardness of heart permitted you to put-away your wives: but from the beginning it hath not been so. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put-away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth her when she is put-away committeth adultery.  The disciples say unto him,  If the case of the man is so with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.  But He said unto them, Not all men can receive this saying, but they to whom it is given.  For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
They were advocates of disunion and legal separation, believing it had Divine sanction from the Mosaic Law.  Jesus corrected them by going back the 1st book of Moses, Genesis, and showed them God’s purpose in creation was union not division.  The marriage union unites two into one and thus a new relation and person is formed.  Like the creation and formation of the physical creature called Man or Adam, so too, the new creation and new formation is a new man a new adam, as it was said before He created Adam, on the 6th day He said of Adam: Male and Female created He THEM and called THEIR name ADAM as is said in chapter 5 recounting Adam’s origin.         By so doing Jesus removed their defense and hardness against women and wives.  But He also elevated and softening our hearts to reconsider our evil ways and awful doctrine of disunion for trivial reasons.  Our doctrine is a heresy and destructive to human happiness and divine design.
We  are made by God so that our fullness is not in aloneness or singleness, nor with artificial substitutionary alternatives to human order and destiny.  From union love is born and nursed; loneliness is met with companionship, flesh finds flesh, soul finds its mate or match, and spirit witnesses to spirit.  Such a union produces its offspring in likeness and nature.  But we rather chose to disjoin from His order and we have found many ways to that end.  In olden times all was stacked against women save in some rare cases, but in time women also share in this departure from nature and order, choosing a new limit and boundary and rule.   God’s intent is too produce His image and likeness by His order and will being subjected in our lives, which would allow us to enter His concern and investment in His creation, that is, in mankind.  For when I as a man, will have a soft and tender heart towards my wife God can enter the union as He sees fit to do so, and likewise the woman in submission to God and law or custom and nature finds a way to live and love beyond those things that destroy.   For God hates putting-away, and we gain no good when we lose our other half.  Man is not complete alone from God nor is blessing and happiness found in a new union without Him.
How so?  We share His life and breath, our souls and body are His creation, from the beginning to the present. We live and move and exist in Him and by Him, and all our experiences from birth to death is shared with Him and for Him.  Christ, His Son, fulfills all for Him and us in regards to sin and death, with corruption and degeneration met with grace and better laws of truth and righteousness and holiness springing from Him, through us, in Christ, back to Him by the Holy Spirit of God.  All this and more in the Bible is plain to all who read and understand.   So we sin against God by violating His work in marriage when we break apart and disjoin what we were intended to keep until death.  But we will find reasons to rent asunder, and the law will yield to our desires and hardness.  And the next generation will reap the sorrows and sufferings till God finds the broken pieces of the broken hearts and recreate anew.
Thus we weep with those who weep and share each other joys.   And we try to hear and see, no feel, His Lonely Heart when we sing and consider ours.  As the Singer sings it, and we apply it: “Only the lonely, know the way He feels tonight; only the lonely, know this feel in ant right.  There goes His people, there goes His heart; they’re gone forever, so far apart.  But only the lonely , know why He cries.  Only the lonely.”  mjm, 030611.
